In the “Kodra e Kuqe” (“Red hill”) in Tirana, during the war with the Italian fascists and their collaborators, Vojo Kushi, participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Hero of the People, was killed. He was born in Shkodra to a craftsman family, in 1918. From the Shkodra high school, he embraced communist ideas and joined the Shkodra communist group. He threw himself into revolutionary activity against Zog’s regime and then against the fascist occupier. He took part in many military actions in Shkodër (1942). Member of the Albanian Communist Party at the beginning of 1942. He was called to Tirana by the Regional Committee of the Albanian Communist Party, he was elected a member of the Regional Committee of the Albanian Communist Party and commander of the guerrilla units of Tirana. He stood out for bravery and courage, in the organization and direction of actions, assassinations and military actions. Streets, neighborhoods, schools, sports institutions, etc. bear the name of Vojo Kushi today. His bust is placed in a square in Tirana. (In the photo: Vojo Kushi)
