Ilaz Agushi, activist of the national issue, anti-communist, was killed in Tirana. He was the son of Xhemajl Agushi. He was born in Pristina, in 1903. He completed his primary education in Pristina, while he graduated from the College of Philosophical Knowledge in Istanbul. He was employed at the post office in Istanbul, where he started his national political activity, connecting with the Albanian Committee of Istanbul and the “National Defense of Kosovo” Committee. From the late 1920s and 1930s, Ilaz Agushi was entrusted with the administration of the vakuf of the Islamic Community of Pristina. In the second half of the 1930s, he became a member of the executive council of the Muslim Organization and director of the vakuf in Skopje. In 1938 he was elected deputy in the Parliament of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia for the district of Ferizaj. In 1941, he contributed to the establishment of Albanian leadership in the municipality and prefecture of Pristina, as the first Albanian prefect. He also contributed to the opening of the “Sami Frashëri” High School in Pristina. He was minister, Secretary of State for World Affairs in Tirana in Mustafa Kruja’s cabinet from December 3, 1941 to September 14, 1943. For the reunification and protection of Rozhaja, Bihor, Sjenica and Novi-Pazar, Ilaz Agushi, with family expenses, recruited and armed 6,000 volunteers. He maintained contacts and connections with Fadil Hoxha, through Hajdar Dushi. There was a secret meeting with Fadil Hoxha in Ferizaj. On October 28, 1943, an assassination attempt was organized at his home. The General Headquarters of the Partisan Aradhe of Kosovo took responsibility for the murder. (In the photo: Ilaz Agushi)
