In the village of Rokaforcata (Roccaforzata), near Taranto (Italy), Gjergj Dhimitër Basta (1550–1607) was born into a family with military traditions. He was a strategist, military theorist, and general of European and worldwide fame, of Arbëreshë descent from Italy.
