Vangjel Lezho, a journalist, was executed. He was born in Fier in 1932. He attended the Normal School in Elbasan. He began his higher education in journalism at Leningrad University and, for health reasons, completed it at Moscow University. After finishing his studies, he worked as a culture journalist at Radio Tirana starting in 1959. He was arrested in 1963 in Pogradec, along with a group of people trying to cross the border. On December 6 of the same year, he was sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment. On November 29, 1978, he was sentenced for the second time for a letter sent to the Central Committee of the Party of Labor of Albania. While serving his sentence in the Spaç camp, he was arrested again on February 23, 1979, and on May 18 of that year, he was sentenced to death by firing squad and lost his right to vote for “creating and participating in a counter-revolutionary organization.” (In the photo: Vangjel Lezho)
