Nermin (Falaschi) Vlora

On April 18, 1921 , in Tirana, in a family with close ties to Ismail Qemal Vlora, Nermin (Falaschi) Vlora was born, writer, publicist and researcher. Attended the Women’s Institute in Tirana (1943). At the end of the war she settled in Italy. She studied law at the University of Siena (1952-1957 ). As the wife of the Italian diplomat Renzo Falaschi, she had the opportunity to live in different countries of the world. Her interests span in several fields: literature, history, archeology, linguistics and journalism. She wrote poems, essays, novels, descriptions and numerous scientific and journalistic articles; has published about 40 books, among them: “Pellazgët-Ilirët-Etruskët-Shqiptarët” (“Pelasgians-Illyrians-Etruscans-Albanians”) (1984); “Lashtësia e gjuhës shqipe” (“The antiquity of the Albanian language”) (1991); “Shqiptarët, popull i ndarë” (“Albanians, a divided people”) (1996). She devoted herself particularly to researching the cultural and linguistic connections between the Etruscans and the ancestors of the Albanians, aiming to prove the antiquity of the Albanian ethnicity. Maintained constant ties with Albania and Kosova, helping to affirm the values of Albanian culture in the world, and to sensitize the international opinion about the Albanian national issue. She was decorated with the Order “Naim Frashëri” of the first class. Died in Rome. According to her wish, she was buried in Kaninë, Vlorë. (In the photo: Nermin Falaschi Vlora)
