The Battle of Margëlliç took place, one of the battles of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. The Battle of Margëlliç resulted from partisan combat operations in the second stage of the Winter Operation, in 1943–1944. At the end of February and the beginning of March 1944, the partisan formations of the Third Mallakastra Group, framed in three battalions, launched the attack against the German forces, which had massacred the people and set fire to the province of Mallakastra. This battle, which lasted 3 days, 27–29 March 1944, ended with the elimination and retreat of the German forces in complete panic and heavy losses.
