Hysni Kapo (1915-1979), one of the leaders of the Albanian Communist Party, of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War and of the Albanian state after liberation, was born in Tërbaç of Vlora, Hero of the People, Hero of Socialist Work. During the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, he acted as a political and military leader for the organization of the party and the armed struggle, first in the Vlora region and then on a national scale. Political secretary of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party for Vlora (1941–1943). At the II National Liberation Conference (September 1943), he was elected a member of the National Liberation General Council; at the Congress of Përmet (May 1944), he was a member of the National Liberation Anti-Fascist Council and its chairmanship. Member of the General Staff of the National Liberation Army (1944), political commissar of the First Corps of the National Liberation Army (1944). After Liberation, he was charged with high functions in important sectors of the state, the economy, the army, and diplomacy; in the years 1950-1956, he was Minister of Agriculture and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers. Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party of Labor of Albania from 1944, secretary of the Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Albania (1956–1979). Member of the People’s Assembly in all legislatures. He died in Paris, after a serious illness. (In the photo: Hysni Kapo)
