In Constanta (Romania), the first issue of the newspaper ” Atdheu ” (“Homeland”) (1912-1914), a biweekly political, social, cultural, literary, and folklore newspaper, was published. It appeared with the motto: “Defends the rights of the Albanian nation” in Albanian and French. From no. 37 (April 9th, 1914) until the end (number 67, September 1914) appeared in Durrës as the “National Organ” of the Albanian state headed by Prince Vidi. It was directed by Jani Mihal-Lehova and edited by Milto Sotir Gurra. In the first period (until 1912), “Homeland” defended the rights of the Albanian nation, opposed the policy of the Young Turks for the revival of the Ottoman Empire, and propagated the ideas of freedom, independence, and the territorial integrity of Albania. In the years 1913-1914, “Homeland” defended the independent state of Albania and supported the national program of the Government of Vlora and its president, Ismail Qemali. Well-known figures collaborated, such as Aleksandër Stavre Drenova (Asdreni), Jani Vruho, Mihal Grameno, Risto Siliqi, etc. (In the photo: Front page of the “Atdheu” newspaper.)
