Gjon Nikollë Kazazi, teacher of the Albanian language, senior Catholic cleric, passed away. He was born in Gjakova, in 1702. He studied in the Illyrian colleges (educational institutions of the Catholic Church) of Fermo and Loreto (Italy), where he received the degree of Doctor in theology and philosophy . In 1743 he was appointed archbishop of Skopje and remained in this position until the end of his life. In 1740 he discovered Gjon Buzuku’s “Meshari” (“Missal”) in the library of the College of Religious Propaganda (College for the Evangelization of Peoples, in Rome).
