Anisa Makarian, an actress and screenwriter of Jewish nationality, was born in Tirana. She attended the University of Tirana, Faculty of Medicine, but quickly withdrew from her medical studies to pursue acting, as directors in the film industry offered her leading roles. She began her career with the role of the protagonist, Dhurata, in the film “Vajzat me kordele të kuqe” (Girls with Red Ribbons) (1978), but it was her role as Zana in the film “Në çdo stinë” (In Every Season) (1980) that made her famous, earning her considerable success with the audience of that time and even winning the festival award. Here, her natural acting, poetic nature, beauty, and feminine mystique stood out, along with subtle emotions and occasional dramatic tones. These latter aspects would be further developed in her most accomplished role, Irena, in the film “Pranvera s’erdhi vetëm” (Spring Didn’t Come Alone) (1988), where she was also co-screenwriter with Remzi Lani. With this role, she once again won the festival award for best actress. She continued to act in similar veins in the film “Ngjyrat e moshës” (Colors of Age) (1990), playing the role of Keti, for which she was also the screenplay author. After the democratic changes that occurred in the country in the 1990s, she emigrated to Paris, where she currently resides, detached from film projects. (In the photo: Anisa Makarian)
