The “Dituria” club organized a large rally in Korça in defense of the Albanian Alphabet. About 15 thousand people participated in this rally, who were from the district of Korça, from Devolli, from Kolonja, from Opar and from Pogradec. On behalf of the people gathered in this rally, telegrams of protest against the introduction of the Arabic alphabet were sent to the Turkish government and the Albanian parliament members. Rallies like the one in Korça were organized in several cities of Albania. These rallies were new events for the Albanian National Movement and rare until then, not only for Albania but also for the Ottoman Empire. (In the photo: The Alphabet Rally, 1910.)
