In Prizren, Lazër Lumezi was born, activist of national education in the province of Kosova, methodist of the Albanian language, author of school textbooks, ethnographer, folklorist and poet. In Prizren, he worked for 40 years (1892–1932) as a teacher. He helped to reopen the Albanian school in Zhuri (1911), where he also held lessons in the role of didact for pioneering teachers. He was a supporter of mixed schools (boys and girls). He published methodical works to help teachers, created poems for the young age, which he summarized in the publication entitled “Kanga gjithfarësh për xasa shkollet, përmbledhun prej Lazër Lumezit” (“Different songs for schools collected by Lazër Lumezi”) (1917). He staged and presented theatrical pieces in the Albanian language with student actors for the public of Prizren, Gjakova, Peja, Skopje, etc. He traced many names of Illyrian residential centers, traditional clothing, etc. (In the photo: Lazar Lumezi)
