The first issue of the magazine “Rilindja” (“Renaissance”)(1934-1936), a biweekly social, cultural and literary magazine, was published in Korçë. It continued until 1936. The most important part of the magazine consisted of articles describing the great backwardness of the country, the plight of the farmer, the need for the emancipation of women, the improvement of the living conditions of the majority of the population, etc. The literary column published writings by young authors, fought for a literature and art at the service of the people, inspired by democratic ideals. From these positions, it harshly criticized empty and worthless translations from foreign literature. On its pages, it gave place to the works of progressive European authors.
