The establishment of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

Lexo ngjarje:

The National Theater of Opera and Ballet, a national musical and choreographic institution, was founded. The history of the National Opera and Ballet Theater begins in 1950, the year in which the Albanian Philharmonic was established, which included the state choir, symphony orchestra, lyric singers, ballet troupe, conductors, director and a small administrative group – technician. On November 27, 1953, the first stage opera “Rusalka” by the Russian composer AS Dargomizhsky was performed. This date entered history as the foundation day of this theater, even though at that time it was still part of the State Philharmonic. In 1956, the Council of Ministers, with the aim of creating more favorable conditions for a better direction of the central artistic institutions, decided to create a separate Lyric Theater of Opera and Ballet, with a contingent of 246 people. In 1957, the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances was created, which became part of the National Theater of Opera and Ballet. The National Theater of Opera, Ballet and People’s Ensemble (TKOBAP) is the temple of scenic art, music and ballet, the only national institution of its kind in our country. TKOBAP is the institution of creation, production and interpretation of the best comprehensive, national and international stage repertoire. TKOBAP’s mission is to preserve and develop the best values of musical and choreographic theater, Albanian and world folklore, new stage creativity, technical and professional development, diversity of interpretive and creative styles and individualities, educating generations with the best works of musical, choreographic and folklore theater.
