The actions for the liberation of Çorovoda

Lexo ngjarje:

The “Actions for the Liberation of Çorovoda,” offensive battles against the fascist invaders, took place during the first phase (July 1942-April 1943) of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, carried out by partisan units. These actions began with the encirclement, capture, and complete disarmament of a militia company in the village of Melovë in Skrapar, intensifying particularly between September 3rd and 5th against 1,000 militiamen and carabinieri, ultimately leading to the liberation of Çorovoda on September 5, 1942. Following this, from September 11th to 13th, the enemy launched a larger operation with reinforcements aimed at recapturing Çorovoda and restoring the regime of occupation throughout Skrapar; however, they were unable to achieve their objectives. The offensive actions of the partisan detachments in Skrapar continued relentlessly during October and November 1942, culminating in the annihilation of the last fascist detachment in Çorovoda on December 7th. On December 11th, the enemy initiated a large-scale operation from multiple directions, supported by aviation, but faced repeated attacks from local partisans, who coordinated their efforts with guerrilla units in Berat and Lushnje, even shooting down two enemy planes. Çorovoda was eventually liberated, becoming one of the most important bases of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. (In the photo: View from Çorovoda.)
