Tahir Sinani

In Gri of Tropojë was born Tahir Sinani, martyr of the nation, fighter in three liberation wars. He completed his secondary education in Tropojë. He attended military school and in 1986 was appointed as a training instructor in the military division of Bajram Curri. Later, he was appointed head of the rapid intervention sector. With the start of the war in Kosovo, he was appointed officer in the training camp of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Tropojë. In November 1998, he moved to Pashtrik and was appointed a member of the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army, later commanding the special unit of the General Staff. He was entrusted with the role of training instructor. After the beginning of NATO’s attacks against Serbian forces, he was tasked with defending the Operational Zone of Pashtrik. On June 12, 1999, he entered Prizren victorious with his soldiers. After the transformation of the Kosovo Liberation Army into the Kosovo Security Forces (TMK), he was appointed commander of the Doctrine and Training Center in Nashec. As a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja, and Bujanovac, he fought in Konçul, Dobrosin, and Bujanovac. After the demobilization of the Kosovo Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja, and Bujanovac, he joined the National Liberation Army and was appointed commander of Brigade 116, based in Tanushë, Gostivar. He was killed in 2001. In 2002, his body was reburied in the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Landovicë, Prizren. (In the photo: Tahir Sinani)
