Rasim Rrahman Kiçina, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army and Hero of Kosovo, was born in the village of Baincë in Drenas. He completed his primary education in his native village before continuing his studies at the Faculty of Mathematical-Natural Sciences at the University of Pristina. In the early 1990s, he maintained contact with activists of the People’s Movement of Kosovo and joined groups that conducted armed actions against the Serbian police. On February 28, 1998, he participated in the battle in Likoshan alongside other fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army. In the spring of 1998, he co-founded the local military barracks in Baica, where KLA fighters were trained. He was also one of the founders of the combat unit “Alfa.” Throughout his service, he took part in numerous operations and battles of the Kosovo Liberation Army, including engagements in Kijeva and the gorge of Llapushnik. Kiçina was part of the close circle of superiors at the General Staff. Tragically, on May 30, 1999, he was ambushed by enemy forces at the exit of Negroc, on the road to Arllat, where he lost his life. In 2009, he was posthumously awarded the “Hero of Kosovo” order by the President of Kosovo. (In the photo: Rasim Kıçina)
