Gjergj Canco, a leader and organizer of professional education, Teacher of the People, and Hero of Socialist Work, passed away. He was born in Boboshtica, Korça, in 1906 and graduated from the National Lyceum (French) in his hometown. Canco continued his higher studies in France at the University of Montpellier (1927–1930) and at the School of Public Works (Ecole des Travaux Publics) from 1930 to 1932. He worked as a mathematics teacher at the high school in Tirana in 1932, the Technical School of Tirana in 1933, and the high school in Shkodra from 1936 to 1945. For about a quarter of a century, from 1945 to 1967, he served as a teacher and director at the former polytechnic “7 Nëntori” in Tirana, transforming it into a model professional school and training center for teachers and specialists. He played a significant role in establishing a network of professional schools across the country, including the Technical School of Construction in Tirana, the Technical School of Mining and Geology in Përrenjas, the Technical School of Agricultural Mechanics in Durrës, the Industrial School in Shkodër, and the Agricultural School in Korçë.
