Dali Ndreu, a participant in the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War, a general, was executed. He was born in Sllovë (Peshkopi) in 1912. In 1931, he completed the Artillery Training School in Tirana and graduated as a lieutenant. Initially assigned to the Recruitment Branch in Përmet, in 1933 he was appointed to the “Kosova” division in the artillery branch. Due to his participation in the Fier Uprising, he was arrested and stripped of his rank. After being released from prison, he abandoned his military career and studied economics at the University of Florence. Due to the fascist occupation, he interrupted his studies and returned to his homeland, where he began anti-fascist activities. With the establishment of the Sllovë partisan unit (February 1943), he was elected its commander. In July 1943, he was elected a member and deputy commander of the General Staff of the Albanian National Liberation Army; later he was appointed commander of the Third Assault Brigade. With the establishment of the First Assault Division, he was appointed its commander, and in August 1944, he was appointed commander of the First Corps of the Albanian National Liberation Army. Dali Ndreu led operations for the liberation of Tirana, Lezhë, and Shkodër. In May 1944, he was promoted to the rank of colonel, and in September of the same year, he was promoted to the rank of major general. After the liberation, he was appointed to important positions and was elected as a deputy from Dibra in the People’s Assembly in the first legislature. After the sentencing of the group of deputies in 1945, he was released from the army and exiled. In August 1956, after the Conference of the Party of Labor of Albania for Tirana, he was arrested on charges of “active activity for the overthrow of the people’s power”, sentenced to death along with his wife Liri Gega, and executed in December 1956.
