Violeta Manushi

Violeta Manushi, theater and film actress, People’s Artist, was born in Tirana. She participated early in the amateur movement. In 1946, she entered the drama school and at the same time was accepted as a professional actress at the State Theater. She has played a number of roles from our dramaturgy, such as: Olimbia in “ Carnivals of Korça” by Spiro Çomora (1964), Zyhraja in “The second face” by Dritëro Agolli (1968), Nica in “The general of the dead armyaccording to the novel of Ismail Kadare (1971), Ollga in “The lady from the city” by Ruzhdi Pulaha (1975), Rita in “Palace 176″ by Adelina Balashi (1986). From foreign dramaturgy, she played: Mrs. Page in Shakespeare’s comedy “The Merry Wives of Windsor” (1959), Mrs. Dulska in Gabriela Zapolska’s tragic comedy “The Morality of Mrs. Dulska” (1958), etc. Violeta Manushi has acted in 17 films. With the role of Ollga (“The lady from the city“, 1976) she won the Medallion of the II Albanian Film Festival. Violeta Manushi stood out as a character actress with a natural sense of humor; she performed in a redeemed and free manner on stage. She embodied figures of Albanian women in interesting plans, each with their own psychological and philosophical individuality and with a distinctive interpretive plasticity. She passed away in Tirana, in 2007. (In the photo: Violeta Manushi)
