Agron Aliaj, dancer and choreographer, People’s Artist, was born in Borsh, Saranda. After completing his higher studies as a dancer at the Academic Choreographic School near the “Bolshoi” Theater in Moscow (1951-1956), he joined the ballet troupe of the Opera and Ballet Theater, where he performed the main roles in the ballets: “La fille mal gardee“, “Lola“, “Francesca da Rimini”, “Paganini“, “Delina“, as well as choreographic concert numbers separated from ballets or created by himself according to the music of well-known authors. Since 1969, principal ballet master of the Opera and Ballet Theater, where he performed the ballets: “The Nutcracker” (Tchaikovsky), “Ghiselle” (Adam), “Don Quixote” (Minkus), “Cinderella” and “Romeo and Juliet” ( Prokofiev), “Cuca e maleve” (“The girl of the mountains”) and “Historia e një kënge“ (“The story of a song”) (Nikolla Zoraqi), “Para stuhisë” (“Before the storm”) (Çesk Zadeja), “Plaga e dhjetë e Gjergj Elez Alisë“ (“The tenth would of Gjergj Elez Ali”) (Feim Ibrahimi). He realized a large number of choreographic miniatures with Albanian and foreign music, some well-known works (“Romeo and Juliet“, “Cinderella“). He is one of the founders of the Albanian choreographic school. He passed away in Tirana, in 2012. (In the photo: Agron Aliaj)
