The Royal Military School (1928–1933), a military school of the secondary education system, was founded in Tirana. It was inaugurated by decree, initially with 170 students aged 11–17. At the end of the four years, the students of this school attended the Aspirant School or Apprentice-Officer School for 9 months and did 3 months of training with troops. After that, “aspirants” were promoted. Of them, only the best were kept in active military service, while the rest were taken into reserve. The Royal Military School had a four-year program of a general nature interwoven with military subjects. With the decree laws of 1929 and 1930, for the regulation of the National Army, this school, like the others, was included in the Land Forces. Until 1930, the commander of the Royal Military School was Major Banush Hamdiu. The school was located in the “Skanderbeg” barracks. In 1933, due to lack of funds, it was closed and its students were sent to the state high school of Tirana. (Pictured: Military School, 1937.)
