Astrit Suli

In the village of Gorozhup in Prizren, Astrit Suli, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), a martyr, was killed. He was born in the village of Luzaj in Berat. After finishing high school, he emigrated to Greece. He returned from Greece and joined the volunteers in Burrel, who were training for war in Kosovo. In May 1999, he joined the composition of a battalion placed on the heights of the village of Gorozhup, on the side of Mount Pashtrik, as part of the forces that would carry out the “Arrow” operation. On May 26, 1999, the attack of the forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army began in the sector of Gorozhup, where Astri Suli’s platoon was also located. On May 27, the forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army were attacked with artillery by enemy forces. In the twilight of that day, the units of the Kosovo Liberation Army counterattacked, where Astrit Suli and five other martyrs were killed. In 2000, the body of Astri Suli was reburied in the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the City of Berat. (In the photo: Astrit Suli)
