Mustafa Hilmi Leskoviku (known as Muço Qulli), activist of the National Renaissance, democratic publicist, and fighter in armed resistance bands, was killed by Montenegrin forces in the Field of Shtoi (Shkodër). He was born in Leskovik in 1887. He completed high school in Manastir and pursued higher studies in jurisprudence at the Faculty of Law of the University of Istanbul. He became involved with Albanian patriotic circles from a young age. In Manastir, he was active as a member of the society “Bashkimi” and published the newspaper “Drita” (1911–1912). He participated in the general liberation uprising of 1912. Upon the declaration of independence, he was appointed deputy minister of education in the Provisional Government of Vlorë (1912). In 1914–1915, he published the newspaper “Populli” (initially in Vlorë and later in Shkodër), in which he advocated for the issues of freedom, independence, and territorial integrity of Albania.
