The first issue of the newspaper “Shpnesa e Shqypeniis” (“The hope of Albania”) (“Nada Albanije“, “La speranza dell’Albania”, 1905-1908), a political, social and literary newspaper, was published in Ragusa (Dubrovnik). It was published in Albanian, Italian and Serbian. Continued to No. 28 (June 26, 1907); then it was published in Trieste, while in the fourth year of publication (1908) only 2 issues were published in Rome. A total of 38 numbers came out. It was directed by Nikola Ivanaj. He propagated the idea of the war for independence, the teaching of the Albanian language in schools; exposed the intentions of neighboring chauvinists for the dismemberment of Albania, etc. (In the photo: Front page of the newspaper “Shpnesa e Shqypeniis”.)
