Father Donat Kurti, Catholic clergyman, scholar, ethnographer and prominent folklorist, passed away. He was born in Shkodër, in 1903. He studied theology and philosophy at the Antonian College in Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1927. After returning to Shkodër, he taught at the Franciscan Lyceum “Illyricum“. From 1938 to 1941 he served as the director of this school. He was re-elected in 1944. Like many Catholic priests, he was arrested in 1946 and spent 17 years in prison (in Shkodër, Burrel, Bede and other internment camps). (In the photo: Donat Kurti)
