Vangjel Lezho, a journalist, was born in Fier. He completed the “Normal” of Elbasan. He began his university studies in journalism at the University of Leningrad and, for health reasons, finished them at the University of Moscow. After completing his studies, in 1959, he worked as a journalist in the culture sector at Radio-Tirana. He was arrested in 1963 in Pogradec, together with a group of people who were trying to cross the border. On December 6th of the same year, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison. On November 29th, 1978, he was convicted for the second time for a letter sent to the Central Committee of the Labor Party of Albania. While he was serving his sentence in the Spaç camp, on February 23rd, 1979, he was arrested again, and on May 18th of the same year, he was sentenced to death by firing squad and the loss of the right to vote for “creating and participating in a counter-revolutionary organization”.
