The United Nations approved resolution no. 1101 for humanitarian aid to Albania. The resolution condemned all acts of violence and called for their immediate end; welcomed the offer made by several member states to establish a temporary and limited multinational protection force, to facilitate the safe and rapid delivery of humanitarian assistance, as well as to help create a secure environment for the organizations’ missions in Albania, including those that provide humanitarian aid; welcomed Italy’s further offer to take the lead in organizing and commanding this force; called on all interested persons in Albania to cooperate with the multinational defense force and international humanitarian agencies for the safe and rapid delivery of humanitarian aid. About 7,000 soldiers, under the direction of Italy, the “Alba” mission, arrived to Albania to restore order and the rule of law. The first forces landed in Durrës and move across the country.
