The Higher Institute of Arts, the highest educational institution of that time for the preparation of creative and performing artists in the field of music, visual arts, and theater, was inaugurated in Tirana. This institute was born as a result of the merger of the High School for Actors “Aleksandër Moisiu” created in 1959, the Institute of Figurative Arts, created in 1960 and the Conservatory, created in 1962.
