Vilhelme Haxhiraj (Vranari), a writer, was born in Vlora. She was deported for political reasons. On May 22, 1993, with decision number 23, the Commission, established to verify the period of serving the administrative punishment, recognized the period of deportation from Vlora to Qishbardhë (Vlorë), from March 23, 1967 to September 30, 1991. She was prevented from graduating in history and philology and was dismissed from her job. After the fall of the dictatorship, she graduated in history and geography and worked in education. In the past two decades, she has had a prolific literary output, writing poetry, short stories, novels, and children’s literature. She has been awarded several literary prizes.
