The Naval Forces were established, a type of Armed Forces and the principal maritime authority for the defense of the maritime space and coastline of the Republic of Albania. The Naval Forces consist of combat forces, supporting combat forces, and logistic support forces. They perform the following tasks: maintain forces ready to defend state interests in inland waters, territorial seas, and the exclusive economic zone of the Albanian maritime space; carry out active legal and peacekeeping operations in the region, in cooperation with naval forces of other partner armies; ensure the open flow of maritime transport traffic and the operation of ports and naval bases; equip the Albanian coastline with necessary means to ensure safe navigation and prepare and keep specialized naval troops ready for counterterrorism, sabotage, and actions against constitutional order. The Naval Forces are equipped with various types of vessels, modern equipment, and contemporary armaments, such as torpedo boats, submarines, minesweepers, mine layers, anti-submarine warfare ships, patrol boats, water and oil tankers, tugboats, etc.Top of Form (In the photo: Four “Huchuan” type torpedoes.)
