Rrahim Beqiri, activist, martyr of the war in North Macedonia, was born in the village of Kopernica in Kamenica. He went to high school in Kamenica, studied Albanian language and literature at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Prishtina. Because of his political activity, he was mistreated and imprisoned several times. In the 90s of the 20th century, he emigrated to Germany. With the beginning of the war in Kosova, he joined the ranks of the Kosova Liberation Army, in the area of Marec. Took part in many battles. After the end of the war in Kosova, at the beginning of 2000 he was imprisoned by the Russian forces. After his release from prison, he joined the Liberation Army of Presheva, Medvegja and Bujanoc, while in 2001 he joined the National Liberation Army in North Macedonia. On July 21, 2001, fighting against the macedonian forces, he was seriously injured and later died of his injuries. A memorial has been erected in Kamenica as a sign of respect for his work.
