The “Antonio Gramshi” partisan battalion was formed, a partisan formation of the Albanian National Liberation Army, composed of former Italian anti-fascist soldiers, who after the capitulation of fascist Italy (September 8, 1943) responded to the call of the General Staff of the Albanian National Liberation Army for war against the German Nazis. It was lined up as part of the 1st Assault Brigade. At the beginning there were 170 people, but then it grew to 300 people. The management cadres were chosen by the staff themselves. The partisan battalion “Antonio Gramshi” took part in the war until the complete liberation of Albania. He fought in Berat, Skrapar, Mallakast\u00ebr, Tomorrica, Gora, Opar, Mok\u00ebr, Dumre, Sulov\u00eb, \u00c7ermenik\u00eb, Dib\u00ebr, Mat, Kruj\u00eb and Tiran\u00eb. Many partisans and his cadres gave their lives in the war. The battalion has been decorated with the order “Partisan Star” of Class I; its fighters have been awarded 50 different orders and medals. After the liberation of Tirana and all of Albania, the soldiers gathered and formed the “Antonio Gramshi” Division, with over 1500 people.
