Congress I met in Corigliano Calabro, on the initiative of Jeronim de Rada. Representatives from most of the Arberian districts of Calabria took part. At the congress, it was decided to form an &#8220;Albanian National Society&#8221;, based in Saint-Mitre (<i>Italian: <\/i>San Demetrio Corone), which would publish an Arb\u00ebre newspaper and be connected with Albania. Jeronim de Rada was elected chairman of the company. In January 1897, the first number of its organ &#8220;La nazione albanese&#8221; was published in<i> Pallagorio of Catanzaro.
