Father Donat Kurti was born in Shkodër, Catholic clergyman, scholar, <\/span>ethnographer,<\/span> and prominent folklorist. He studied theology and philosophy at the Antonian College in Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1927. After returning to Shkodër, he taught at the “Illyricum” Franciscan High School. <\/span>From 1938 to 1941 he served as the director of this <\/span>high school<\/span>.<\/span> He was re-elected in 1944. Like many Catholic priests, he was arrested in 1946 and spent 17 years in prison (in Shkodër, Burrel, Bede and other internment camps).
