Maks Velo<\/span>, an architect, painter, writer, pub<\/span>li<\/span>cist, and distinguished intellectual, was born in Paris. His multifaceted artistic career is notable for its uniqueness. Velo completed his higher studies at the University of Ti<\/span>ra<\/span>na, specia<\/span>li<\/span>zing in construct<\/span>ion engineering and architecture. He was the architect behind many pub<\/span>li<\/span>c, social, cultu<\/span>ra<\/span>l, and industrial buildings in Albania while also pursuing his passion for painting. In 1978, he was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in a po<\/span>li<\/span>tical prison due to h<\/span>is modern art, which fell outside the confines of socia<\/span>li<\/span>st rea<\/span>li<\/span>sm. Velo’s artistic output can be divided into two distinct periods: the first lasted until 1978 when 468 of his works were seized and burned by the Albanian po<\/span>li<\/span>ce following a court decision<\/span>, and the second began after 1990, during which he held over 40 personal exhibitions in Albania and F<\/span>ra<\/span>nc<\/span>e. His pictorial style was influenced by modern European painting, <\/span>showcasing<\/span> an abst<\/span>ra<\/span>ction of form and the development of his individual artistic voi<\/span>ce. <\/span>Maks Velo<\/span> passed away in Ti<\/span>ra<\/span>na in 2020. <\/span><\/span>(I<\/em>n the photo: <\/em><\/span>Maks Velo<\/span><\/em>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
