Jakup <\/span>Ma<\/span>to<\/span>, a critic, esthete, and researcher of <\/span>li<\/span>te<\/span>ra<\/span>ture and the arts, passed away in Ti<\/span>ra<\/span>na. Born in the village of <\/span>Fterrë<\/span> in Sa<\/span>ra<\/span>nda in 19<\/span>34, he completed his higher studies in Albanian language and <\/span>li<\/span>te<\/span>ra<\/span>ture at the University of Ti<\/span>ra<\/span>na in 1959. <\/span>Ma<\/span>to worked as a <\/span>li<\/span>te<\/span>ra<\/span>ture specia<\/span>li<\/span>st, serving as editor-in-chief of the newspaper “<\/span>Mësuesi<\/span>” (“The Teacher”) and later as the director of arts in <\/span>the Ministry of Education and Culture in 1970. He directed the Higher Institute of Arts from 1987 to 1992 and <\/span>subsequently<\/span> became a scientific worker and director of the Study Center of Arts at the Academy of Sciences. His notable pub<\/span>li<\/span>cations include “Ris<\/span>i <\/span>të<\/span> letërsisë<\/span> shqipe<\/span>” (“Innovation of Albanian <\/span>Li<\/span>te<\/span>ra<\/span>ture”) (1983), “<\/span>Pa<\/span>ra<\/span>dokset<\/span> e <\/span>satirës<\/span> dhe<\/span> të<\/span> humorit<\/span>” (“Pa<\/span>ra<\/span>doxes of Satire and Humor”) (2000), and “<\/span>Poetika<\/span> e <\/span>d<\/span>ra<\/span>ma<\/span>turgjisë<\/span> dhe<\/span> mendimit<\/span> estetik<\/span>” (“Poetics of D<\/span>ra<\/span>ma<\/span>turgy and Aesthetic Thought”) (2005), <\/span>along with numerous critical and scientific articles exploring <\/span>li<\/span>te<\/span>ra<\/span>ture and the inte<\/span>ra<\/span>ction of the arts. In his studies, <\/span>Ma<\/span>to addressed various aesthetic issues and theories related to <\/span>li<\/span>te<\/span>ra<\/span>ture and the arts, closely examining contempo<\/span>ra<\/span>ry developments <\/span>and historical perspectives within Albanian arts. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: <\/em><\/span>Jakup <\/span>Ma<\/span>to<\/span><\/em>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
