Qazim <\/span>Mulle<\/span>t<\/span>i<\/span>, <\/span>t<\/span>he former pref<\/span>ec<\/span>t<\/span> of <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a, has passed away. Born in <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a, he began his educa<\/span>t<\/span>ion in <\/span>Manas<\/span>t<\/span>ir<\/span> before a<\/span>t<\/span>t<\/span>ending <\/span>t<\/span>he “<\/span>Zosimea<\/span>” high school in Ioannina. Coming from <\/span>one of <\/span>t<\/span>he influen<\/span>t<\/span>ial families of <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>t<\/span>ime, he fur<\/span>t<\/span>hered his s<\/span>t<\/span>udies a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he “<\/span>Galla<\/span>t<\/span>asaray<\/span>” high school i<\/span>n Is<\/span>t<\/span>anbul. <\/span>Mulle<\/span>t<\/span>i<\/span> wi<\/span>t<\/span>nessed<\/span> t<\/span>he declara<\/span>t<\/span>ion of independence in <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a and became involved in <\/span>t<\/span>he poli<\/span>t<\/span>ical developmen<\/span>t<\/span>s of <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>t<\/span>ime. Following <\/span>t<\/span>he arrival of Prince Vidi, <\/span>Mulle<\/span>t<\/span>i<\/span> accompanied him <\/span>t<\/span>o Vienna. Upon his re<\/span>t<\/span>urn, he ac<\/span>t<\/span>ively <\/span>par<\/span>t<\/span>icipa<\/span>t<\/span>ed<\/span> in <\/span>t<\/span>he<\/span> poli<\/span>t<\/span>ical movemen<\/span>t<\/span>s of 1920 and s<\/span>t<\/span>rongly advoca<\/span>t<\/span>ed for <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a’s designa<\/span>t<\/span>ion as <\/span>t<\/span>he capi<\/span>t<\/span>al during <\/span>t<\/span>he Congress of <\/span>Lushnja<\/span>. A suppor<\/span>t<\/span>er of <\/span>t<\/span>he Noli forces, he opposed King Zog from <\/span>t<\/span>he ou<\/span>t<\/span>se<\/span>t<\/span>. During a clima<\/span>t<\/span>e of poli<\/span>t<\/span>ical uncer<\/span>t<\/span>ain<\/span>t<\/span>y, he was declared a “<\/span>t<\/span>rai<\/span>t<\/span>or” and convic<\/span>t<\/span>ed in <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a, promp<\/span>t<\/span>ing him <\/span>t<\/span>o seek refuge in Paris, where he received suppor<\/span>t<\/span> from I<\/span>t<\/span>alian sources. Wi<\/span>t<\/span>h <\/span>t<\/span>he arrival of Fascis<\/span>t<\/span> I<\/span>t<\/span>aly, Qazim <\/span>Mulle<\/span>t<\/span>i<\/span> re<\/span>t<\/span>urned <\/span>t<\/span>o hold governmen<\/span>t<\/span>al posi<\/span>t<\/span>ions. He even<\/span>t<\/span>ually lef<\/span>t<\/span> T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a upon <\/span>t<\/span>he emergence o<\/span>f <\/span>t<\/span>he Na<\/span>t<\/span>ional Libera<\/span>t<\/span>ion Army, leaving his wife and son behind.
