The “Treaty o<\/span>f<\/span> F<\/span>ë<\/span>s<\/span>l<\/span>au<\/span>” (<\/span>Vöslau<\/span>), a secret agreement concluded between Serbia and Greece in <\/span>F<\/span>ë<\/span>s<\/span>l<\/span>au<\/span> (near Vienna), out<\/span>li<\/span>ned the initiation o<\/span>f<\/span> a war against <\/span>Turkey<\/span>. The treaty stipulated that, <\/span>f<\/span>ollowing the war, Serbia would <\/span>acquire<\/span> Bosnia-Herzegovina, while Greece would gain Thessaly and Epirus. In prepa<\/span>ra<\/span>tion <\/span>f<\/span>or the con<\/span>f<\/span>li<\/span>ct against <\/span>Turkey<\/span>, the parties acknowledged the signi<\/span>f<\/span>icance o<\/span>f<\/span> Albania and the role o<\/span>f<\/span> the <\/span>Albanians, considering their position crucial due to the provinces they inhabited, which sepa<\/span>ra<\/span>ted the Greek and Serbian territories o<\/span>f<\/span> European Turkey. Particularly notable was the Greco-Serbian Mi<\/span>li<\/span>tary Convention o<\/span>f<\/span> F<\/span>e<\/span>bruary 28, 1868, which <\/span>f<\/span>ollowed the<\/span> treaty and speci<\/span>f<\/span>ically addressed “Albania’s contribution” to the anti-Otto<\/span>ma<\/span>n war e<\/span>f<\/span>f<\/span>orts. However, the Treaty o<\/span>f<\/span> F<\/span>ë<\/span>s<\/span>l<\/span>au<\/span> pri<\/span>ma<\/span>rily re<\/span>f<\/span>lected a tendency towards territorial expansion, aiming not only to unite areas inhabited by Serbian and Greek populatio<\/span>ns still under Turkish control but also to appropriate the lands o<\/span>f<\/span> others, particularly those belonging to Albanians. In the discussions leading up to the treaty, Serbia <\/span>sought<\/span> not only Kosovo (re<\/span>f<\/span>e<\/span>rred to as “Old Serbia”) but also Northern Albania, while<\/span> Greece aimed to expand its claims beyond <\/span>Ma<\/span>cedonia to include Epirus, which encompassed Southern Albania. <\/span><\/span>(In the photo: View o<\/em><\/span>f<\/span> the city o<\/span>f<\/span> Vöslau<\/span><\/em>, XX century.<\/em>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
