Engjëll Berisha, a musicologis<\/span>t<\/span>, universi<\/span>t<\/span>y professor, and academic, was born in <\/span>Prizren<\/span> and was par<\/span>t<\/span> of <\/span>t<\/span>he firs<\/span>t<\/span> genera<\/span>t<\/span>ion of gradua<\/span>t<\/span>es from <\/span>t<\/span>he School of Music in <\/span>Prizren<\/span> (1949-1953). He s<\/span>t<\/span>udied in <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>t<\/span>heore<\/span>t<\/span>ical-pedagogical sec<\/span>t<\/span>ion a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he Academy of Music in Belgrade and comple<\/span>t<\/span>ed his pos<\/span>t<\/span>gradua<\/span>t<\/span>e s<\/span>t<\/span>udies in musicology a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he Academy of Music in Sarajevo in 1981, gradua<\/span>t<\/span>ing wi<\/span>t<\/span>h a <\/span>t<\/span>hesis <\/span>t<\/span>i<\/span>t<\/span>led “<\/span>T<\/span>he Developmen<\/span>t<\/span> of S<\/span>t<\/span>yles in <\/span>t<\/span>he Works of Kosovo Albanian Compos<\/span>ers,” published in 1997. Berisha <\/span>t<\/span>augh<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he his<\/span>t<\/span>ory of music a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he high school of music in <\/span>Prizren<\/span> from 1958 <\/span>t<\/span>o 1968, led <\/span>t<\/span>he school choirs and <\/span>t<\/span>he cul<\/span>t<\/span>ural-ar<\/span>t<\/span>is<\/span>t<\/span>ic socie<\/span>t<\/span>y “Dawn” (“<\/span>Agimi<\/span>“), and con<\/span>t<\/span>inued his career a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he Higher Pedagogical School in Pr<\/span>is<\/span>t<\/span>ina from 1968 <\/span>t<\/span>o 1975, where his publica<\/span>t<\/span>ion “His<\/span>t<\/span>oria e <\/span>muzikës<\/span>” (“<\/span>T<\/span>he His<\/span>t<\/span>ory of Music”) (1975) con<\/span>t<\/span>ribu<\/span>t<\/span>ed significan<\/span>t<\/span>ly <\/span>t<\/span>o universi<\/span>t<\/span>y li<\/span>t<\/span>era<\/span>t<\/span>ure. For <\/span>t<\/span>wo decades, he published <\/span>numerous<\/span> papers and s<\/span>t<\/span>udies on musical crea<\/span>t<\/span>ivi<\/span>t<\/span>y in Kosovo and <\/span>main<\/span>t<\/span>aine<\/span>d<\/span> a long-<\/span>t<\/span>erm <\/span>t<\/span>eaching role in music his<\/span>t<\/span>ory, even af<\/span>t<\/span>er re<\/span>t<\/span>iremen<\/span>t<\/span>. He presen<\/span>t<\/span>ed his<\/span>t<\/span>orical and musical ma<\/span>t<\/span>erial in a universi<\/span>t<\/span>y con<\/span>t<\/span>ex<\/span>t<\/span>, which he summarized in “<\/span>S<\/span>t<\/span>udime<\/span> dhe<\/span> vësh<\/span>t<\/span>rime<\/span> mbi<\/span> muzikën<\/span>” (“S<\/span>t<\/span>udies and Views on Music”) (2004), where he also publi<\/span>shed <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>t<\/span>ex<\/span>t<\/span>book “Ar<\/span>t<\/span>i <\/span>Muzikor<\/span>” (“Musical Ar<\/span>t<\/span>“) for high schools. Berisha received several awards, including <\/span>t<\/span>he na<\/span>t<\/span>ional award for life<\/span>t<\/span>ime achievemen<\/span>t<\/span> “<\/span>Nike<\/span>t<\/span>e<\/span> Dardani” from <\/span>t<\/span>he Minis<\/span>t<\/span>ry of Cul<\/span>t<\/span>ure in 2014, and he passed away in 2015. <\/span><\/span>(In <\/em><\/span>t<\/span>he pho<\/span>t<\/span>o: <\/span>Engj<\/span>ël<\/span><\/em> Berisha<\/em>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
