Gjergj <\/span>Canco<\/span>, a leader and organizer of professional educa<\/span>t<\/span>ion, <\/span>T<\/span>eacher of <\/span>t<\/span>he People, and Hero of Socialis<\/span>t<\/span> Work, passed away. He was born in <\/span>Bobosh<\/span>t<\/span>ica<\/span>, <\/span>Korça<\/span>, in 1906 and gradua<\/span>t<\/span>ed from <\/span>t<\/span>he Na<\/span>t<\/span>ional Lyceum (French) in his home<\/span>t<\/span>own. <\/span>Canco<\/span> con<\/span>t<\/span>inued his higher s<\/span>t<\/span>udies in F<\/span>ran<\/span>c<\/span>e a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he Universi<\/span>t<\/span>y of Mon<\/span>t<\/span>pellier (1927–1930) and a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he School of Public Works (Ecole des <\/span>T<\/span>ravaux Publics) from 1930 <\/span>t<\/span>o 1932. He worked as a ma<\/span>t<\/span>hema<\/span>t<\/span>ics <\/span>t<\/span>eacher a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he high school in <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a in 1932, <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>T<\/span>echnical School of <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a in 1933, and <\/span>t<\/span>he high school in Shkodra from 1936 <\/span>t<\/span>o 1945. For abou<\/span>t<\/span> a quar<\/span>t<\/span>er<\/span> of a cen<\/span>t<\/span>ury, from 1945 <\/span>t<\/span>o 1967, he served as a <\/span>t<\/span>eacher and direc<\/span>t<\/span>or a<\/span>t<\/span> t<\/span>he <\/span>former poly<\/span>t<\/span>echnic “7 <\/span>Nën<\/span>t<\/span>ori<\/span>” in <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a, <\/span>t<\/span>ran<\/span>sforming i<\/span>t<\/span> in<\/span>t<\/span>o a model professional school and <\/span>t<\/span>raining cen<\/span>t<\/span>er for <\/span>t<\/span>eachers and specialis<\/span>t<\/span>s. He played a significan<\/span>t<\/span> role in <\/span>es<\/span>t<\/span>abl<\/span>ishing<\/span> a ne<\/span>t<\/span>work of professional schools across <\/span>t<\/span>he coun<\/span>t<\/span>ry, including <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>T<\/span>echnical School of Cons<\/span>t<\/span>ruc<\/span>t<\/span>ion in <\/span>T<\/span>i<\/span>ran<\/span>a, <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>T<\/span>echnical School of Mining and Geology in <\/span>Përrenjas<\/span>, <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>T<\/span>echnical School of Agricul<\/span>t<\/span>ural Mechanics in Durrës, <\/span>t<\/span>he Indus<\/span>t<\/span>rial School <\/span>in Shkodër, and <\/span>t<\/span>he Agricul<\/span>t<\/span>ural School in Korçë. <\/span><\/span>(In <\/em><\/span>t<\/span>he pho<\/span>t<\/span>o: Gjergj <\/span>Canco<\/span><\/em>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
