The “Battles of Llapashtica” were the largest military operations of the Kosovo Liberation Army in the Llap Operational Zone during the year 1998. The front line of the war extended in three directions: Llapashtica-Tabet, Llapashtica-Obranc\u00eb, and Llapashtica-Gllavnik. The enemy aimed to seize the positions of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Tabet, from where both other directions of the front line could be controlled, and the command of the Llap Operational Zone could be endangered. After a strong resistance in Tabet and Llapashtica, and once the displacement of the civilian population became possible, the forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army implemented a previously prepared plan, attacking the enemy from both flanks and causing significant losses in personnel and military equipment. The enemy made several attempts to penetrate these positions but withdrew with heavy losses in personnel and equipment until it was forced to seek the assistance of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) to extricate its forces from the encirclement. The forces of the Llap Operational Zone maintained their control positions on the Pristina-Merdare and Podujevo-K\u00ebrpimeh road axes.
