Gjergj Xhuvani, a director, screenwriter, and producer, was born in Tiran\u00eb. In 1986, he completed his studies at the Institute of Fine Arts for acting, and the same year, he was appointed at the \u201cShqip\u00ebria e Re<\/i>\u201d Film Studio. He worked as an assistant director on several films. He is the sole author or co-author of all his film scripts, mostly written in collaboration with the renowned writer and screenwriter Dhimit\u00ebr Xhuvani. His first film, produced in 1991 as a short feature, was in black and white. Throughout the years, he passionately cultivated short and medium-length films, managing to unfold human dramas with emotional depth through them. Returning to the phenomenon of alienation in his black-and-white debut, he revisited it a decade later with “Parullat” (\u201cThe slogans\u201d) (2001), a film that gained entry and won an award in the Cannes Film Festival’s First Works section, later screened in several European cinemas. In this film, Xhuvani’s fundamental artistic values shine: his simple and precise directorial approach, the deeply realistic construction of life’s image and microcosms in harmony with all cinematic elements. “Parullat\u201d beyond Cannes, was honored with the Grand Prix at the Tokyo International Film Festival. His film “E diela e fundit” (\u201cThe last sunday\u201d) (1992) received a special jury award for short films at the Mediterranean Film Festival “Bastille 93<\/i>” in France, while “Dashuria e fundit” (\u201cThe last love\u201d) (1994) won the award for Best Direction at the Albanian Film X Festival.
