In the vicinity of Nov\u0161i\u0107e and Velika (Montenegro), Jakup Ferri, warrior and popular military leader, was killed. He was born in Plav (Montenegro), in 1832. He stood out for his bravery in the fight for the protection of Albanian lands in the middle of the 19th century. Active participant in the insurgent movement of the 60s of the XIX century against the Tanzimat in the Plav-Guci region, as well as in the fights against the attempts of the Montenegrin army to occupy the Albanian lands in 1874 and 1876. Jakup Ferri was an activist of the Albanian League of Prizren (1878), member of the Committee of the League for Plav, member of the staff of the volunteer forces for the protection of the Albanian lands of Plav and Guci in 1878-1879, one of the participants and organizers of the Gjakova action in September 1878, which ended with the murder of Mehmet Ali Pasha. He led the Albanian defense forces on December 4, 1879 in the vicinity of Nov\u0161i\u0107e and Velika and broke the Montenegrin offensive forces. He fell in the fighting with the Montenegrin troops.
