Sabri Godo, a writer and politician, was born in Delvina. In 1943, he joined the partisan forces and remained in the army even after the war. However, in 1948, he was expelled from the army and subsequently from the Labor Party of Albania in 1950. Following this, he worked in various sectors of the economy until he became a freelancer. Godo was a prolific author, writing stories, novels, and literary biographies. His volume of short stories \u201cZ\u00ebra nga burime t\u00eb nxehta\u201d (“Voices from Hot Springs”) (1971) and the novel “Prova e zjarrit” (“The Fire Challenge”) (1977), which centers around the partisan war, aimed to portray the ordinary people who fought and highlight their patriotic devotion, sacrifice, and selflessness without embellishment. Among his principal works are “Ali Pasha Tepelena” (1970) and “Sk\u00ebnderbeu” (1975), which are notable for their rich historical details and masterful recreation of two significant figures in Albanian history. With these works, he pioneered the biographical novel genre in Albanian literature. With the establishment of political pluralism in January 1991, Sabri Godo became one of the founders of the Republican Party of Albania, serving as its first chairman. From 1996 to 2001, he was a deputy in the Assembly of Albania and the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. He played an important role in drafting the Constitution of Albania as co-chairman of the relevant Commission in 1998.
