Tano Banushi (Athanas), a renowned actor and People’s Artist, passed away in Shkod\u00ebr. Born in Shkod\u00ebr in 1927, he began his career as a comic actor in his hometown with his role as a drunkard in Henrik Ibsen’s drama \u201cArmiku i Popullit\u201d (“Enemy of the People”) in 1945. Banushi was one of the founders of the Shkodra Variety Theater in 1958 and became its most representative figure. Throughout his career, he performed in approximately 200 shows, mainly in Shkodra’s Estrada, participating in one-act comedies, skits, parodies, couplets, and monologues. He established a unique profile as a popular comic actor, characterized by his distinctive speech and physicality. Among his most successful roles was that of Leo in the comedy “K\u00ebshilli i ndrikullave” (\u201cCouncil of Godmothers\u201d) (1974) by Sherri Mita. In addition to acting, Tano Banushi was a coupletist, an operetta singer, and a parodist, as well as the author of several short humorous pieces. He played a significant role in documenting the theater movement in Shkod\u00ebr, contributing to a rich archive of data about it. For his remarkable contributions to the arts, he was posthumously honored with the order “Grand Master of Work.” (In the photo: Tano Banushi)<\/i><\/p>\n
