Persefoni Kok\u00ebdhima, participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Heroine of the People, was hanged by the German Nazis in the Gjirokastra prison. She was born in Qeparo of Himara, in 1924. She became active in the communist youth groups and at the beginning of 1944  joined the ranks of the VI Assault Brigade. Participated in the fighting during the general enemy offensive of June 1944. She was discovered and arrested while seriously ill in her native village. After being tortured in Gjirokastra prison, she was hanged by the Nazis. (In the photo: Persefoni Kok\u00ebdhima)<\/i><\/p>\n
