Muzafer Korkuti, archaeologist, was born in Fterra of Saranda. After completing primary school in his native village, he attended seven years of secondary school in Shkod\u00ebr and studied history at the University of Tirana (1962). For a short time, he attended studies in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), which he interrupted due to the end of relations between the two countries. He specialized in archeology in China. He worked as a teacher and director of the seven-year school of Ku\u00e7 (1954-1957) and then at the Center for Archaeological Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Albania. He specialized in prehistory and led excavations in more than 15 prehistoric centers. Published scientific articles in scientific journals in Albania and abroad. He is the co-author of the university texts “Arkeologjia” (1972, 1993), “Historia e Shqip\u00ebris\u00eb”, ” Les Illyriens” <\/i>(1985), ” Historia e popullit shqiptar” (2003) and “Harta Arkeologjike e Kosov\u00ebs I”. He was a lecturer in archeology at the University of Tirana (1968\u20132002) and at the University of Pristina (1972\u20131975). He lectured at various universities: Paris (France), Heidelberg and Munster (Germany), Rome, Pisa, Bari, Lecce and Bologna (Italy), Athens and Thessaloniki (Greece), Vienna (Austria), Cincinnati (USA), etc. and participated in many international symposia and congresses. He was director of the Institute of Archeology (1982\u20131992; 1998\u20132006), chief editor of the magazine “Iliria” (1971\u20131975, 1986\u20131991, 1998\u20132002); member of the Standing Committee of World Prehistoric Sciences (1986) and corresponding member of the German Institute of Archeology (1986).
