It was held in the city of Prizren. It was held immediately after the end of the war, to approve the decisions of the highest forums of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia on the future status of Kosovo and the Albanian people within the Yugoslav Federation. The “solutions” defined in advance in Belgrade had left Kosovo within the Yugoslav Federation and had not recognized its equal status with that of the other units of Yugoslavia, a status which it had acquired during the anti-fascist war. The meeting took place when several Yugoslav divisions had arrived in Kosovo, operating over 20 brigades with an effective force of 40 thousand people and military power was established. 137 councilors, who were selected by the Yugoslav authorities, as well as representatives from the Republic of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia (now North Macedonia) were called to participate in the meeting. The national composition of the delegates did not coincide with the national composition of the population. Albanians, who made up 3/4 of the total population of Kosovo, were represented with only 32 delegates. The meeting, after condemning the positions of the Albanian delegates who demanded respect for the will of the Albanians, sanctioned during the war years with the decisions of the Bujan Conference (1943), approved the Resolution prepared in Belgrade and drafted in the Serbo-Croatian language. The resolution sanctioned the annexation of Kosovo within the framework of Serbia and Yugoslavia, denying the right of Kosovo Albanians to self-determination. The Assembly elected the deputies who would represent Kosovo in the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and in the Assembly of the Yugoslav Federation. The annexation of Kosovo as an autonomous region within the framework of the Republic of Serbia was constituted by the decision of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation Council of Yugoslavia on July 23, 1945, was reconfirmed by the Presidium of the Serbian Assembly on September 3, 1945 and was finally sanctioned by the Constitution of the Republic of the Federation Yugoslavia in 1946. (In the photo: View of Prizren, beginning of the 20th century.)

Text: Albanian encyclopedic dictionary – Vol. 2 , Academy of Sciences of Albania, “Kristalina-KH”, Tirana, 2008, page 1667.

Photo: © CHwB – Cultural Heritage Without Borders, Kosovo.

Graphic processing: AHCF

The “Meeting of Prizren”, a meeting of the National Liberation Council of Kosovo (which is often called the Assembly of Prizren), was organized.

[17

post-6860","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ngjarje
["GET
