In France, the lifeless body of Ali Podrimja, a poet and academician, was found by French authorities. He was born in Gjakova in 1942. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown and graduated in Albanian language and literature from the Faculty of Philosophy in Prishtina. He initially worked as a journalist for the daily newspaper “Rilindja” and later became an editor at the publishing company “Rilindja,” where he worked until retirement. His first poetry collection, “Bukuria” (Beauty), was published in 1959, through which he attracted attention as a unique talent. He published his first book, “Thirrje” (Call), in 1961. Ali Podrimja’s spiritual and intellectual formation took place in the 1950s. He left a deep mark, especially through the infamous Serbian action to collect weapons and the dramatic forced displacement from Kosovo to Turkey. As a high school student and beyond, he fought tirelessly through his poetry. Ali Podrimja’s poetry is imbued with the collective misfortunes of his ethnicity, as well as his personal struggles, which he faced relentlessly. In over twenty volumes of poetry, as well as several functional essay volumes, he touched and elevated the heights of Albanian poetry. In its artistic elevation, Ali Podrimja’s poetry shines with a missionary mission. It has bled to become the voice of Kosovo’s collective pain, a strong, enduring voice, universalizing it. Translated into many languages \u200b\u200baround the world, Ali Podrimja’s poetry inspired and incited generations of Albanian poets, inspiring youth movements towards freedom and spiritual values. He was the recipient of several literary awards and public acknowledgments. On July 18, 2012, Ali Podrimja disappeared after a poetry festival in France. He passed away in unclear circumstances.
